OUR MONTESSORI SCHOOL IN GUELPH
The Montessori School of Wellington was founded in 1996 and is located at 2 Samuel Drive in a beautiful residential area of Guelph, Ontario. We are the only CCMA Accredited Montessori School in the Royal City!
CCMA (Canadian Council of Montessori Administrators) is the only ruling body that inspects Montessori schools to ensure they are offering authentic Montessori education — and we are proud that our Guelph preschool and elementary school have received these accreditations.
An authentic Montessori School has an accredited Montessori teacher, mixed age classrooms, and a learning environment that adheres to the Montessori philosophy.
Everything we do with our children is based on their ability and not on their age. Everything we show the children is success-oriented. Every child progresses at his/her own pace. Each child grows socially, intellectually, and ethically in an environment characterized by freedom and respect.
WHAT IS MONTESSORI PRESCHOOL?
The purpose of our Montessori Preschool Program is to prepare children for life: to have self-respect, to treat others and their environment with respect, to seek their own truth, think for themselves, and to not blindly follow the demands of others.
Most programs use discipline to get children to obey commands. Our goal goes way beyond that. We show our children how to develop self-discipline where they make good choices regardless of who is or is not watching them. This is how character and integrity is developed.
Our Guelph Preschool Program is grounded in the teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori: “The most important period of life is not the age of university studies, but the first one, the period from birth to the age of six.” We provide a setting where children flourish and develop self-esteem through a continuously growing awareness of their own abilities.
